bringing the body back into balance and harmony - integrated treatments

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

Traditional chinese acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient principles which go back nearly two thousand years. It is a positive model of good health and function where pain and illness are indications that the body is out of balance. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment is to restore the body's balance.

What makes this system so uniquely suited to modern life is that physical, emotional and mental are seen as interdependent, and reflect what many people perceive as the connection between the different aspects of their lives.

The focus is on the individual, not their illness, and all the symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Each patient is unique; two people with the same western diagnosis may well receive different acupuncture treatments.

Acupuncture involves placing fine needles at specific points on the body called acupuncture points. These needles are as thin as a hair, sterile and disposed of after a single use. Once the needles are in place people experience a range of different sensations. These vary between a warm, tingling sensation and a light, dull ache. Many people find it an extremely relaxing experience.

A growing body of evidence-based clinical research shows that traditional acupuncture safely treats a wide range of common health problems.
